Purpose:

MSJC is transitioning from PortalGuard Single Sign-On Portal (https://login.msjc.edu) to Microsoft 365 My Apps (https://myapps.microsoft.com) as the MSJC single sign-on portal. This transition will streamline the login experience by consolidating to a single login location for both Microsoft 365 and other MSJC web-based applications.

What is transitioning?

MSJC currently uses PortalGuard for single sign-on authentication to some web-based applications and resources. Beginning April 2, 2024, MSJC is making My Apps (https://myapps.microsoft.com) available for student and employee use for account management and as a single sign-on portal. My Apps offers staff, faculty, and students all the same features as PortalGuard related to single sign-on and account management. Users can access Self-Service, Canvas, Online Orientations (Comevo), Counseling (Cranium Café) as well as licensed Microsoft 365 productivity tools in a single convenient location within My Apps. PortalGuard will remain available until June 3, 2024, as users transition to My Apps.

Why is MSJC transitioning to My Apps?

Prior to the transition, users were required to login to PortalGuard for resources such as Canvas, Self -Service, Comevo, Cranium Café, and other web-based services. Additionally, users were required to login to Microsoft 365 for access to productivity tools, such as email. The move to My Apps will allow for consolidated access to the services in a single location.

What do you need to do?

We encourage users to start using My Apps (https://myapps.microsoft.com) as soon as April 2, 2024 and no later than June 2, 2024. Once logged in to My Apps, users should confirm their account recovery email in the Security Info portion of My Sign-Ins (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info). Users should ensure the password recovery email address is a personal email. We also recommend users set multiple options for multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods in case your primary authentication method becomes unavailable for use.
